The Nikolaiviertel, between the Spree River, Berlin City Hall and Mühlendamm, houses many small cafés and restaurants, along with the famous Nikolaikirche (Nikolai Church), Berlin's oldest original building. We highly recommend visiting this "open-air museum" of old, destroyed Berlin.
